Luke Part 2
Reminder
God’s kind of Kingdom is never the same as our human definitions. It follows that God’s kind of King was also different from the kind of rulers we admire.
“MESSIAH” is the Hebrew word for the anointed King of Israel
“CHRIST” is the Greek word for the same Title
Therefore, Jesus was ‘a scandal’ to the devout.
Dr. Luke was not a Jew, but he saw clearly that Jesus of Nazareth was the only qualified (albeit unrecognised) Messiah of Israel and was also the rightful ruler of the whole of the world’s people.
Luke’s researches led him to follow the order of events set out in Mark’s gospel but Luke’s unique additions to the story have put the whole world forever in his debt. For example, consider some of the parables of Jesus:
Output
Luke Chapter 15 verses 3 to 7-We can be lost like a sheep.
Question – What does this teach us about being found?
Luke Chapter 15 verses 8 to 10-We can be lost like coins.
Question – Who is doing the seeking?
Luke Chapter 15 verses 11 to 24-We can be lost like sons.
Question – What is the main point of this part of the story?
Luke Chapter 15 verses 25 to 31-We can be lost like a well-behaved son.
Question – Can you see the ingredients of:
Self-importance
Self Pity
Self-righteousness here?
Question – Who were the main two groups Jesus addressed here? Chapter 15 verses 1 to 2
Question – Who comes out best in the story of the two sons?
1-Son No 1-The Prodigal Son
2-Son No 2-The Sanctimonious son or
3-The Father who loved them both?
Remember, some of Jesus’ stories were parables of contrast, for example:
Question – What is the real point of the clever but crooked manager (Luke 16, verses 1 to 9)?
Question – What is being taught in Luke Chapter 18 verses 1 to 8?
Question – How does Chapter 18 verses 9 to 14 speak to you as a group?

Time to pray, now.

Thought 4 The Day

If you cannot pray because you are full of lusts and worries stop looking in that mirror to look through God’s clear window.
