You may wish to re-cap the main features of the last session (Chapters 1 to 2) before moving on to ‘Learning to Live in the Real World’ (Chapter 3) and ‘Learning to Live with Ourselves’ (Chapter 4).
Preparation
Spend a few moments on what we actually teach our children about getting on in the real world.

Compare two kinds of ambition:
Chapter 3 verses 1 to 6 with Chapter 3 verses 7 to 11
Question – Is it wrong for Christians to be ambitious?
Chapter 3 verse 12 to Chapter 4 verse -In the process of learning to live in the real world;How do we assess our progress? (Chapter 3 verses 12 to 17)
How satisfying is Pagan ‘realism’ compared with Christian idealism? (Chapter 3 verse 18 to Chapter 4 verse 1).

Learning to Live with Ourselves-Chapter 4
The secret of joy (Chapter 4 verses 4 to 5)-God’s approach to us.
The secret of inner peace (Chapter 4 verses 6 to 9)-Learn verse 6 by heart!
in Christian praying (verses 6 to 7)
in Christian thinking (verse 8)
in Christian doing (verse 9)
The secret of contentment -(Chapter 4 verses 10 to 19)
Independent dependence!-(verses 10 to 14).
Incoming outgoings!-(verses 15 to 20).
Question – In the light of Philippians, just how Christian are we?
